James McFadden looks set to re-sign for Everton this week after leaving in 2008 for £5m.
The forward’s first spell at Goodison saw him fade in and out of first team contention, scoring 11 goals in 109 matches.
Renowned for his goal against Charlton in 2007 and for frustrating Evertonians with poor decision making and intermittent brilliance.
At just 28 McFadden will feel his career has a long way to go, but he has failed to find even his patchy form since a serious anterior cruciate ligament injury in August 2010 saw him miss an entire season.
He will add some kind of depth to the squad, but could well end up just getting in the way of youth progressing at Everton if he does make any impact on the first team.
